Daffodil bud opening.
It definitely is spring, and there definitely is a rather “fresh” Northerly wind and fresh snow well down the hills… ah well, we had our two days of basking in spring warmth last weekend!
This daffodil bud in my garden was opening just as the sun came through at the right angle to create a lovely orange glow inside the flower.
Another sign of spring – its time for the annual contest of The Gardener vs Ground Elder. Lets see if we can improve upon last year’s temporary draw. For non-gardeners, here’s the explanation (see invasive habit).
On a different tack – I’ve been enjoying reading The Biology of Belief by Dr Bruce Lipton:
“The Biology of Belief presents scientific evidence showing that genes and DNA do not control our biology. Instead, Bruce Lipton shows that genes are turned on and off by signals from outside the cell, including the energetic messages emanating from our positive and negative thoughts. His discoveries have huge importance for our beliefs, shattering the old myth that we are frail biochemical machines controlled by genes, and giving convincing, scientific support to the understanding that we are powerful creators of our lives and the world in which we live.
Dr Lipton shows how our beliefs, true or false, positive or negative, affect genetic activity and actually alter our genetic code. His profoundly hopeful work gives important clues as to how we can retrain our consciousness to create healthy beliefs, and by doing so create lasting, positive results in our bodies and our lives.” (from Cygnus Books)
I was struck by his description that every protein in the body is the perfectly-shaped complement of a signal or molecule in the environment. In other words, we are shaped by our environment as much as our environment is shaped by us – we really are all one.
I believe this also to be true in a wider sense – our emotional environment, for example. The energies of people around us match into our “emotional shape” – which is why it behoves us to start discovering our inner emotional shape through conscious investigation, and taking responsibility to develop and grow into “better shape”, into more conscious beings.
“The whole outer world and its forms are a signature of the inner world.”
