Evening reed reflections at the Lily loch
Sunset at the Lily loch. I was particularly drawn to the graphic effect of the golden reeds against the birch tree reflections on the shore opposite.
I attended a most inspirational event this week – the launch of the 2020VISION exhibition, at the Royal Botanic Gardens in Edinburgh. I’ve been closely involved with the project as web designer, and I am very much in tune with the ethos of the project.
To quote from the website “2020VISION is the most ambitious nature photography project ever staged in the UK. It aims to engage and enthuse a massive audience by using innovative visual media to convey the value of restoring our most important but often fragmented natural habitats – to show that healthy ecosystems are not just for wildlife, but are something fundamental to us all.”
2020 director Peter Cairns gave a heartfelt speech, combined with a presentation of amazing images which was truly inspirational. There are many positive examples around the UK of ecological restoration, species coming back from the brink, and there is no better way to enthuse people than to share these positive stories. The project aims to show how involving local communities benefits nature and benefits us in so many ways; showing that we are part of nature, not separate.
The exhibition is on in Edinburgh until the 30th September and you can find out more about the project here. Keep a look out as other venues will be announced soon.
