Freezing Spires, Loch Morlich

Freezing Spires – Loch Morlich, Glenmore.

Taken a few days ago just before New Year, on a day of sparkling frost crystals and fantastic air clarity with a daytime high temperature of -9C.  The loch was completely frozen over (and perfectly skiable…) except for the outflow, pictured here.  The surface was steaming like a hot spring with its comparative warmth (not that I fancied a swim – I left that to the ducks).

We have had snow building up day after day now for a full two weeks, with more fresh snow over New Year.  Walking anywhere is just about impossible – skis are the best way to get about!

My photographic resolution: to become more technically proficient; for that technique to become transparent so the artistic idea shines through more clearly; to allow the intuition of being in the right place at the right time and to follow the inspiration of each moment.

Happy New Year!

“Life is your art. An open, aware heart is your camera. A oneness with your world is your film.”

– Ansel Adams.

” Your mind is like a live camera that is constantly taking pictures of every single moment that comes onto you… So be a good photographer! “

– David Acuna.

Have a good year!
