About

I have worked with many photographers – first in the darkroom, then as a technical adviser and website designer – but it took many years for me to consider that my photography might have some merit. The “Inspirational Image” email grew from friends sharing my photos, and evolved into a diary through the seasons, with photos mainly chosen from walks around my home area of Strathspey in the Scottish Highlands. For ten years I sent out a weekly image and quote, nowadays more infrequently – as inspiration strikes.

I am highly energy-sensitive, aware of the subtle energies and intelligence in nature. As I compose each photo, I’m aware of these energies, the feeling of the place – a vibration which carries through in the image.

I’m primarily interested in natural forms, often seeking to reveal something felt in the more ordinary, rather than a tremendous landscape.

I have a separate website, SacredScotland, dedicated to the ancient sites of Scotland and Ireland.

I am also a musician and Sound Healer, working with my voice and other instruments.  With this sound, energetics and physics background, I understand that all of creation is a swirling soup of vibrating energy.

Concerning matter we have been all wrong.  What we have called matter is energy, whose vibration has been so lowered as to be perceptible to the senses.  There is no matter.

– Albert Einstein

What we see around us does not exist!  There is only energy vibrating, like musical strings on a gigantic universal orchestra, producing the illusion of – everything.

Music, colour and form (shape) are all aspects of the same fundamental underlying reality.  The eye perceives shapes which it translates into frequencies, interpreted through the brain.  A sound, a flower, a poem, a word, a geometric shape – any of these can be the key to open something in you.  Everything may be the doorway to the infinite.

Elemental Nature

In her marvellous book ‘Summer with the Leprechauns‘ Tanis Helliwell describes a summer spent in an old Irish cottage, where she entered into communication with the elemental beings of the area.  They gave her teachings about the evolution of elemental beings, their place in the natural world, and their relationship with humans, especially with those humans who are committed to working with nature to assist in the healing of the Earth.

You may not believe in them (or consciously interact with them as I do), yet our genuine desire to respect and work with nature can work wonders. Keep in mind that they are symbols of the forces of nature – and think how powerful those forces can be when unleashed.  It surely behoves us to work in co-operation with nature rather than with the current despoiling attitude!

My aim is to share the inspiration, beauty and healing I find in nature, to help connect us with this deeper, more conscious, level of reality.
