Insh Birch

Birch above Insh Marshes, near Kingussie, September

A beautiful day in the birch woodlands above Insh Marshes, most definitely with a mix of sunshine and showers.  Insh marshes are said to be one of the most important wetlands in Europe, with many species over-wintering from the Arctic and Scandinavia.  I love the colours there at this time of year, both in the surrounding Birch and Juniper woodlands, and from the marshes as the various grasses turn colour.

I found this quote below, and it made me smile 🙂
I may not often achieve it, but I like this approach to spirituality.

“Why they always look so serious in Yoga? You make serious face like this, you scare away good energy. To meditate, only you must smile. Smile with face, smile with mind, and good energy will come to you and clean away dirty energy. Even smile in your liver. Practice tonight at hotel. Not to hurry, not to try too hard. Too serious, you make you sick. You can calling the good energy with a smile.”

– From Ketut Liyer, the Balinese healer, as related by Elizabeth Gilbert
